Our normal schedule during the week is for Carter to get up around 5am. We try to go back to sleep for about an hour or so and then he eats around 6am. Well, today was a special day...it was actually a Holiday! The Royal Wedding! Carter and I started enjoying the festivities around 530am this morning (thanks TiVo)! He was so worn out from all the fun....he fell right asleep on his jump-a-roo! I love this kid!

6 Month Check Up
Well, the morning did not start out so great today. When Carter got up for his morning bottle, I immediately noticed that he was flaming hot. After his bottle, I took his temperature and it shot up to almost 103. I was a little worried so I quickly gave the after hours number a call. They said that the fever was good (he was fighting off something) and that I shouldn't worry about fever until it is between 105 and 108....ummmmm NO! That is insane! We already had an appointment scheduled today for his 6 month well check so it kind of worked out. Needless to say, we have yet another ear infection on our hands and a slightly crabby boy (he is fussing as I type this).
He is extremely HEALTHY as far as size goes. He is 20lbs 15oz (92%) and is 29" long (98%). I guessed that he weighed more than that so I was a bit surprised. No shots today due to the fever....so its back to see Dr. Roads in 2 weeks!

This picture was right after he got done eating tonight...it was at 7. He barely slept all day so he was ready for bed a little earlier than normal!

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt! ~Lucy Van Pelt, "Peanuts"
Those that know me know that this quote is a good fit for me...this might just have to be my new motto! What can I say...this Easter was extremely special. More special than most because we now had 2 Easter baskets sitting on the kitchen table from the Easter Bunny. We had two kids to get dressed on Easter morning for Church. And we had 2 kiddos with us all day as we enjoyed food, family, and egg hunts!
I caught myself saying this to Blake several times this weekend, but we are EXTREMELY blessed with 2 beautiful children. I don't remember a time when we didn't have them in our lives...though we are always exhausted and running around crazy with things to do because of our family of 4, I wouldn't trade it for the world!
Saturday, we headed to RiverView Mounds off Hwy 12 for some Easter fun! Chloe was excited for the pony ride. But, as soon as we walked in, I spotted the Easter Bunny. I hadn't had time to take the kids to the mall to get their picture made so I thought it was a great opportunity. Chloe wanted nothing to do with it. Carter (my extremely smiley and laid back child) could have cared less....we sat him right down and he instantly began smiling at all the strangers! I got the cutest picture of him that I will have to scan in tomorrow. While there, Chloe did an egg hunt, rode the barrel train, and rode a pony! She and I also rode the hay ride and got some history on the Farm...there are some Native American Mounds back on the property that have been there for centuries and are on the Historical Map (never would have known that)! After that, we headed to eat Mexican with Papa!

Sunday, we headed to Easter Service at Grace Community Church. The Service was amazing! Chloe thoroughly enjoyed her time in Grace Acres. We then headed home for nap and LOTS of eating at Birdie's house and then Grandy and Jenks' house! It was a fabulous weekend with lots of great memories!

Chloe's first boyfriend (kind of)!
Well, I guess she really doesn't know that yet! This is Chloe's friend Myles!
He had his sister write "I <3 Chloe" on his leg! Haha! So funny! His Mom also told me that the next tattoo his Sister gave him said "Chloe is the best girlfriend ever!!!" I just think it is so funny that he was thinking about Chloe while hanging at home...so much so he wanted a tattoo of her name! I LOVE IT! Myles is the cutest little 5 year old you will ever meet! His Mom and I talk about how they are going to get married!

Feeling Welcomed Already...
To the Clarksville Academy Family :) Yesterday, we had a work event at CA...we were there for Lincoln-Drive Smart for your School. We helped the Academy raise over $3200 just for parents / teachers taking test drives! Such a great way to raise money for our local schools and to show off our great products! While there, our friend Sally gave us a treat for Chloe (thanks Sally)! When we got home, Chloe was excited to open it up! There was tons of CA gear for her next year! She is ready!
Easter Festivities
Well, with Easter right around the corner, we have started our Easter Festivities! Chloe had her School Easter Egg Hunt yesterday! She was beyond excited! She got quite a few eggs that she started ripping into last night! We also colored eggs for the first time last night! I was a tad bit nervous about how it would go. Honestly, Chloe was a bit timid at first...she kept telling me to do it. I don't think she wanted to stick her hands into the dye. But, after she watched me do it a few times, she was into it! She was dunking her whole hand in to the dye and quickly switching from color to color...there was a rainbow of color on the paper towels and Chloe's hands! Here are a few pictures from the beginning of our Easter celebrating!
Can you tell that she LOVES pink. Every egg except for 2 out of the 12 we made were predominately PINK! I love my girly-girl! What a fun time we had!

Pizza, Pizza!
Last night, Chloe & I made mini pizzas! So fun! I got the idea from another blog that I follow...she is a stay at home Mom and does tons of fun stuff with her 2 kids! I thought this was an easy and fun idea to do with kids that are a tad older! Chloe loved every second of 'helping' me cook! Here is the step by step process of how we made our Mini Pizzas!
Step 1: Gather all your ingredients.
Step 1: Gather all your ingredients.
Step 2: Cut each of your English Muffins in 1/2 and place on a baking sheet.
Step 4: Sprinkle Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese on each muffin.
Step 5: Place pepperoni (or your choice of meat / other toppings) on top for the final touch. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
Step 6: ENJOY!
Last thing to remember, it is very important to have a sous chef nearby to make sure things go off without a hitch. Sadly, ours can't quite eat the end result just yet....but, I'm sure he wanted to!

Ugggggh....I know he is mine, but I could just eat him up!

Where have the last 6 months gone?
They have truly flown by. I can't believe it...but, my sweet Carter Blake is already a 1/2 of a year old. Blake and I were just talking about how we can't believe it or even remember a time when he wasn't here. He has brought so much joy to our home. I'm so thankful for him in so many ways, but the one that pops into mind first is that he gave me my 2nd chance at enjoying the 'baby stage.' With Chloe, we were so young, scared, naive, scared...you get the picture. We just focused on the daily things that had to be done not really enjoying the special moments. I now have a real appreciation for sweet newborns. He has been such a joy and is so sweet...I really hope that he stays this way!
What is Carter doing now that he is 6 months:
*still sleeping through the night (pretty much...unless his pacy falls out or he jolts and wakes himself up)
*goes to sleep around 7:30pm and wakes around 5:00am
*eating a jar of fruit in the morning and a jar of veggies at night
*eating 5-6oz bottles a day & wearing size 4 diapers
*rolling from back to belly and from belly to back (yay)
*sitting very well when slightly assisted
*talking up a storm & smiling at EVERYTHING and EVERYONE--especially his Big Sister who he adores
*pretty close to moving up to a big boy car seat (the pumpkin chair is about out...with him in it, I feel like it weighs 50 lbs)
*getting really good at picking up and holding toys
*eating anything and everything that gets close to his mouth (including a live duck...that is another story all together)

Weekend Fun
What a great weekend. It was filled with a whole lot of nothing...but the good kind of nothing where you have no stressful plans! We filled our time with 2 great trips to the Park on Saturday and Sunday! There is a new (well, new to us) park about a mile away from our house. It is clean and has all brand new equipment! Chloe had a blast, and Carter seemed to enjoy himself too!
Carter is really enjoying his Jump-A-Roo! He hangs out in it quite often! I also snapped a sweet picture of him resting and holding onto my hand. I'm just in love with this little boy!
Wee Sing in Sillyville
Ever heard of it? Me either! That is, until Amanda brought us the DVD to borrow. Apparently this was a popular VHS (haha) tape back in the day. Blake and Casey watched it too. Blake says he didn't love it as a kid, but I find that hard to believe! We all know Chloe has a flair for the dramatic...well, she is OBSESSED with this movie. Most days we watch it 3 times in a row! Sunday, she was really getting into it. So I taped her without her knowing...listen closely....you can barely hear her singing with the movie!

funny girl
Chloe this morning:
"Mom, when your high heels don't fit anymore, can I have them?"
"Mom, why don't your high heels have velcro? How do they stay on without it?"
This conversation happened while she was going potty....chatter box as soon as she woke up!

Carter's Monthdays---the last 5 months!
5 month highlights:
*I'm now eating 'food' 2x's a day--1/2 a jar of bananas or applesauce in the morning & a full jar of veggies at night
*I can sit up pretty good as long as I have a helping hand from my Momma
*I like to go to sleep at 7:30 pm or so and wake up TALKING around 5 am
*I LOVE the Jump-a-roo....I get so excited when it lights up
*I bear weight when Mommy tries to stand my up
*I have now rolled from my belly to my back
*I still love my feet...I try to put them in my mouth
*I put anything I can get my hands on in my mouth, by the way, including paper towels (which I love)
*I still like to have my blankets on my face but Mommy doesn't let me sleep that way
*Most nights I sleep by myself in my crib...sometimes I have to sleep in my car seat
*In my short 5 months of life, I have already had 3 ear infections...are tubes on the way?
*I smile at everything and everyone...pretty much still the happiest baby on Earth
We are enjoying every second of you Carter Blake. You bring Mommy, Daddy & Big Sister Chloe so much joy! We love you!

Sunday, we headed to church with the kiddos. It was a beautiful Spring day so we took advantage and broke out the pastels! I thought they both looked so sweet. I am truly blessed with 2 sweet kids!
Because he gets up so early, he is subjected to pictures whether he likes it or not (I think he likes it...what do you think?)!
Good Ole' Austin, TX!
Two weeks ago, the whole Jenkins Crew (without kiddos :)) traveled to Austin, TX for a Ford 20 Group trip! It was fun! The preparation to go was a little more stressful that I anticipated...but we were able to drop both kids off (in different location) in 1 piece! :) I am thankful for all of our helpers that took wonderful care of the kids (the best Auntie in the world--Mrs. Brittnye, the best Papa in the world & the best Birdie in the world)! When we got home, Chloe said she 'was so happy to be home with my family.' I felt the same way!
The first thing I noticed at the airport...Austin is known for its music so I thought these were appropriate! |
View from our room--Beautiful! |
Walking around Austin....we didn't even cover 1/4th of the main downtown area! It's huge! |
Casey wanted to visit Lance Armstrong's store....it was pretty neat... |
While there, Blake made a new friend :) |
The Capital Building |
This hot car had a very powerful looking woman in it...Casey and I thought we should take a pic. Not every day you drive by one of these! |
Last night in Austin--Dinner at Trulucks Crab & Seafood--Yum! Fun times! |
