Well, it has been a while since I have updated this thing...which some people don't mind pointing out! :) Just kidding, I have been slacking. Well, as usual, it has been a busy month...birthday parties, the park, CT Scans...you know, the norm! We went to Madalyn Ladd's birthday party on the 13th. It was at Chuckie Cheese...I have never been to this place. I should have been warned. It is madness. Kasey (Madalyn's mom) did a great job putting the party together..there were a lot of people to keep track of and a lot of cake to be had! Chloe had a great time sliding down the slide and riding the rides. I guess I will take her back there...one day...maybe on a Monday or something! She also got to have a chocolate cupcake, which is her favorite (she is my daughter you know!).
Well, as some of you know, I have been thinking about having Chloe seen by a Plastic Surgeon. This was all prompted by her Pediatrician, Dr. Roads. Her little face is asymmetrical. All this means is that the left side of her face (neck and cheek) are a little puffier than the right side. Not really noticeable until pointed out. Apparently, it has been like this her whole life. I did not notice until a Nurse pointed it out at her 9 month apt. Well, needless to say, back then, Dr. Roads told me she needed to be seen at Vandy. I have struggled with this for 10 months now. The reason being...she had to have a CT Scan done first. I struggled with it for many reasons...but I finally decided, after talking to every mother that I could come into contact with, that I needed to do it...for PEACE OF MIND. Basically to make sure there was nothing harmful causing the puffiness. Well, here are a few pictures of Chloe the day of her CT Scan at Vandy Children's Hospital (Friday April 18th). Oh, I have to send out a BIG THANK-YOU to our friend Amelia Hale...she ventured to Nashville with us that day because Blake was unable to get off work! I am so glad I had someone there with me. It made things a lot easier. Oh, it did not hurt that she is a Nurse...she kind of knew what was going on! I had no clue. Thanks Amelia!
She had a monitor on her big toe. The bandaid that was holding it on did not make her too happy...as you can see by her facial expressions!
The picture above was right when we got home from Vandy. She was just coming off of her anesthesia. She was pretty sleepy and groggy for the rest of the day. But, she was a little trooper!**We have gotten word about the scan...Nothing Abnormal! Thank God. Dr. Roads did inform us that her upper jaw is a little under-developed for her age...but he did not seem concerned with this at all. He said that it was like this on both sides...I guess the fact that it is uniform is a good thing. The great thing about this news is that this is something that can be fixed later...if need be. So, no masses, tumors, or other issues showed up in the scan to be causing the puffiness. She just has little chubby sweet cheeks! Again, thank God. I can now rest easy that my Baby Girl is going to be fine!

**This past Sunday, Blake and I took Chloe to the park. It was a beautiful day. I hate to say this, but it was the first time she had been in a swing. She had a great time. It was so adorable; she kept saying 'wee!' I love that she is easy to please! She is growing up so fast. I can't believe it. Before you know it, she will be 2!
Oh, one more thing. Yesterday, all the girls that work at Jenkins and Wynne got a special delivery. Aren't they pretty. They brightened my day!
Amelia is such a good friend!
ReplyDeleteand I love Chloe's face, especially the sweet little cheeks. and the face she makes when I'm talking to her and she is probably thinking "who is this crazy person, and why is she bothering me?"
